1. Close all Adobe® windows.
2. Navigate to ?:Pfx EngagementWMUtilities, where ? is the drive that CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager is installed on.
3. Right-click on the appropriate API file and choose Copy.
   • For Adobe® Acrobat®: PfxEngagementx.api.
   • For Adobe® Reader®: PfxEngagx.api.
4. Navigate to the appropriate Plug_ins folder and Paste the file from step 2.
   • For Adobe® Acrobat®: C:Program filesAdobeAcrobat #AcrobatPlug_ins.
     • On a 64-bit operating system: C:Program files (x86)AdobeAcrobat #AcrobatPlug_ins.
   • For Adobe® Reader®: C:Program filesAdobeAcrobat #ReaderPlug_ins

If the CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager menu still does not appear in Adobe®:

1. Click Edit > Preferences > Start up.
2. View Application Startup options.
3. Verify that Use only certified plug-ins is not checked. If it is checked, please clear the box.

Notes

• The CCH® ProSystem fx® Engagement or Workpaper Manager menu will only display when the PDF file is opened from inside Engagement or Workpaper Manager.
• These steps only apply to Adobe® 2017 installed with Engagement or Workpaper Manager v7.5 or v2017. v7.2 and prior versions do not support Adobe® 2017.

Answer

To set a PDF viewer as the default on Mac OS X:

Adobe Reader Knowledge Based

1. Select any PDF file from Finder. Control-click to open the menu.
   Result: A menu will open next to the file name.
   
2. Choose Get Info from the menu that opens.
   Result: A new window will open with information on that PDF file.
   
3. From the Open with: section in the new window that opens, select your preferred application, such as Adobe Reader or Preview.
   Result: That application will be selected.
   
4. Click the Change All button. In the subsequent dialog box, click Continue.
   Result: The application that you selected will be the location in which PDFs open.
   

To set a PDF viewer as the default on Windows

• If no other PDF viewer is installed, once Adobe Reader is installed, it becomes the default.
• To set a preferred PDF viewer as the default:
  • Windows 7:
    1. Follow the menu path Start > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program
    2. Highlight .pdf, then click Change.
    3. Choose your preferred PDF viewer, such as Adobe Reader.
  • In Windows XP
    1. Follow the menu path Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types.
